The GEOpool is the computer center of the Institute of Geography, located on the 1st floor.
Geography students have the opportunity to work with geographic information systems, modeling software or special analysis software to create and administer maps, models or databases.
Mon – Thu: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.
Fri: 9.00 am – 1.00 pm
Outside of course times, the geopool can again be used for individual work.
The current course times can be found in the online timetable or on the screen in the corridor in front of the Geopool. Please note that only course participants may use the Geopool during course times.
Please note:
If the enrollment system shows a course that is currently running, the GEOpool is only accessible to participants of the course. Other work should be avoided in the GEOpool at these times.
Please refer to the occupancy plan and, if necessary, use the ZDV rooms.
The GEOpool has the university’s only large-format scanner. Both employees and students can order scans up to 111.8 centimeters wide (106.7 centimeters scan width). Please contact the GEOpool staff in person, by telephone or by email. The price for large format scans is € 3 per document.
In order to be able to use the GEOpool outside opening hours, members of the institute and students can obtain night access in the form of an electronic access card in special cases.
The necessary application form is available for download: Proposal for night access (please print on both sides)
This requires the signature of a geography lecturer who confirms that it is necessary for the person in question to have access outside regular opening hours for research and teaching purposes.
The completed form and a 25 Euro deposit must be submitted in cash to the GEOpool. The GEOpool reserves the right to refuse to issue night access if there are any doubts about the justification for the proposal.
